At Vine & Stone, we’re a Brisbane-based landscape design studio led by partners Jason O’Toole and Valarie Hope. Together, we bring a balance of creativity, experience, and practical know-how to every outdoor space we design.
With over 14 years in the industry, Jason leads the design process with a deep understanding of construction, planting, and architectural integration. Previously the founder of Elevation Landscapes in New Zealand, he brings hands-on experience delivering high-end residential projects from concept to completion. His designs are known for their elegance, function, and attention to detail — always tailored to how real people live and interact with their space.
Valarie oversees creative operations, project flow, and client experience. Her background in program design, counselling, and administration helps ensure every project is both personal and professional. She brings a warm, grounded presence to the process — managing logistics, communication, and all the moments in between.

With two young kids, we needed a space that was safe, practical, and still beautiful. Vine & Stone totally got it. They created zones for play, quiet areas for relaxing, and even included plants that are hardy and low-maintenance — perfect for our busy life.
The 2D and 3D designs helped us visualise everything before it started, and we felt involved in every step. The finished yard feels like an extension of our home. The kids love the open space, and we love the little firepit area for winding down in the evenings.

From the first consultation, they really listened to what we wanted and made the whole process feel easy and exciting. The 2D plans helped us make decisions, and the 3D design was amazing — we could actually picture the space before anything started.
The finished result is better than we imagined. The layout flows beautifully, the pool looks incredible, and the feature dragon tree is such a standout. It honestly feels like our own little retreat now.
